Work: Gorgeous, 2016
Gorgeous is a collection of photographs of my friends while they were drunk, accompanied by texts under the photographs that were written by my friends when they were sober. Influenced by the works of Larry Clark and Jim Goldberg, I documented my friends over the last four months at parties and gatherings, collecting photographs of them while both my friends and I were drunk. Following the parties, I had my friends write about how they looked in my photographs once they were sober. I photographed my friends without them knowing, and because of this they were all embarrassed and shocked at the photographs that I had of them. ‘Please don’t show these to anyone’ – most of the people in the project. Thank you to Caitlin, Alex, Ollie, Jess, Paty, Eleanor, Matt, Holly, Rory, Becks, Tony, Jenni and Stephen. |
